ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?

  • Are you a high school senior or already enrolled in a regionally accredited College or Trade/Technical School?
  • Are you pursuing your first A.A., A.S., B.A. or B.S. or Technical Certification?
  • Are you a Navy Dependent?
  • Has your sponsor served a minimum of 6-8 years in Naval Aviation - squadrons, carriers, or air stations?

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Who?

1.  Dependents of active duty members or former members (retired, honorably discharged or deceased) of the U.S. Navy.

QUALIFYING TIME

2. Sponsor must have served at least eight (8) years of active duty, ADSW (Active Duty Special Duty, such as a Reservist who has been called upon to work full time for a specified amount of time) or a combination of both within the United States Naval Air Forces. These periods may be non-consecutive.  The minimum 8 year requirement may be waived for Spouse and/or Enlisted Dependent Applicants.

QUALIFYING COMMANDS

3. Sponsor must have served within the United States Naval Air Forces. This includes subordinate activities and units of the United States Naval Air Forces, both ashore and afloat, whose primary mission is in support of the Naval Air Force. Examples are as follows:

  • Air stations or facilities (Naval Air Stations, Naval Air Facilities and tenant commands)
  • Aircraft Carriers
  • Air Wings and Staff
  • Aviation Squadrons
  • Personnel with assignments in aviation billets on amphibious Ships (LHA/LHD, etc.)

ELIGIBILITY NOTE

Any spouse or child (natural born, adopted or step­child) of a member of the U. S. Navy who died while on active duty serving with a Naval Air Force unit as described above, may qualify, regardless of length of service of the deceased parent.

NOTES

  • Candidates who have a previously qualified sibling or parent, must still create their own account and submit a new pre-qualification form.  Please do not use the existing account and overwrite that information, our system will not recognize that it is a new entry. However, the new candidate does not need to resubmit documentation of the sponsor’s service in Naval Aviation. Please indicate the name of the family member who has pre­qualified in the "Verification of Assignment in Naval Air Forces or Subordinate Command(s)" section of the pre-­qualification form. New applicants still have to submit proof of dependency.

NOTIFICATIONS

Applicants should receive an email regarding the status of your pre-qualification and/or application within 7 business days of your submission, please be sure to check your "junk box" too.  If you do not receive any information about the status of your information please send an email to scholarship@wingsoveramerica.us to ensure it was received.
