Applicants must be:

  • A high school senior or already enrolled in an accredited College or Trade/Technical School
  • Currently pursuing their first A.A., A.S., B.A. or B.S. or Technical Certification
  • A Navy Aviation dependent child or spouse
  • Have a sponsor who has served in the US Navy a minimum of 8 years within Naval Air Forces - squadrons, carriers, or air stations (Marine and Coast Guard aviators are not eligible.)

Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, national or ethnic origin, or religion in the administration of any of its educational policies, programs, and operations.



1.  Dependent children or spouses of active duty members or former members (retired, honorably discharged or deceased) of the U.S. Navy who have served within the United States Naval Air Forces.


2. Sponsor must have served at least eight (8) years of active duty, ADSD (Active Duty Special Duty, such as a Reservist who has been called upon to work full time for a specified amount of time) or a combination of both within the United States Naval Air Forces. These periods may be non-consecutive and do not include time spent in flight school. 


3. Sponsor must have served within the United States Naval Air Forces. This includes subordinate activities and units of the United States Naval Air Forces, both ashore and afloat, whose primary mission is in support of the Naval Air Force. Examples are as follows:

  • Air stations or facilities (Naval Air Stations, Naval Air Facilities and tenant commands)
  • Aircraft Carriers
  • Air Wings and Staff
  • Aviation Squadrons
  • Personnel with assignments in aviation billets on amphibious ships (LHA/LHD, etc.)

*Flight School does not count towards 8 year requirement


Any spouse or child (natural born, adopted or step­child) of a member of the U. S. Navy who died while on active duty serving with a Naval Air Forces unit as described above may qualify regardless of length of service of the deceased parent.

New Candidates with siblings already pre-qualified

  • Candidates who have a previously qualified sibling or parent, must still create their own account and submit a new pre-qualification form.  Please do not use the existing account and overwrite that information, our system will not recognize that it is a new entry. However, the new candidate does not need to resubmit documentation of the sponsor’s service in Naval Aviation. Please indicate the name of the family member who has pre­qualified in the "Verification of Assignment in Naval Air Forces or Subordinate Command(s)" section of the pre-­qualification form. New applicants still MUST submit proof of dependency by the pre-qualification deadline of February 1st.

Reapplying or Already Qualified 

  • Please contact Melissa Garrison, Scholarship Administrator, at scholarship@wingsoveramerica.us to re-activate your account. This must be done each scholarship season an applicant plans to apply.


Applicants will receive an email regarding the status of their pre-qualification and/or application within 7 business days of your submission. Please be sure to check the "junk box".  If an applicant does not receive an email, please contact the Scholarship Administrator, Melissa Garrison, at scholarship@wingsoveramerica.us to ensure it was received.
